23 of September 2009 was officially opened up the new CDW treatment plant of Gestora de Runes del Llobregat. The opening ceremony has had the presence of Catalan Minister for Environment (Generalitat de Catalunya) Mr. Francesc Baltasar, the Mayor of El Prat de Llobregat (city in which the plant is located), Mr. Lluís Tejedor, as well as the main directors of the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC).

The plant, which treatment capacity is set at 300.000 tons of waste per annum, will process, on an initial stage, materials with destination to the enlargment works of Barcelona Harbour (Port de Barcelona). Construction time has been of 5 month.
